Undead Dudes
Undead Dudes feed on death. The core mechanic: Zombie Dudes gain attack power every time another Dude falls in battle. The more bodies on the field (friend or foe), the stronger they become.
Zombie Dude — the cornerstone of every Undead build. Gains stacking Attack every time an ally falls. With the right Relics and Necromancer support, a single Zombie can deal thousands of damage by wave 30+.
Necromancer Dude — the enabler. Resurrects fallen allies, which means more Zombie scaling triggers and more bodies for the enemy to split aggro between.
Vampire Dude — life drain specialist. Bat Wings Relic is essential for keeping this fragile-but-powerful Dude alive through lethal hits.
Skeleton Dude, Ghoul Dude, Banshee Dude — additional Undead variants with different stat distributions and minor ability variations. All contribute to the Undead synergy count.
Employed Dudes
Employed Dudes are the economic backbone of smart strategies. They generate Gold, compound wins, and fund Relic acquisitions that outpace opponents.
Workin’ Dude — each victory generates bonus Gold. Essential for early-game economy.
Finance Dude — places life insurance policies on allied Dudes; earns Gold when insured Dudes survive dangerous situations. Pairs extremely well with tanky Warrior frontlines.
Electrician Dude — Circuit mechanics provide utility through energy-based effects and sustain.
Accountant Dude — provides passive income buffs that scale with the number of Employed Dudes on the team.
Warrior Dudes
Warriors are the most versatile family in How Many Dudes?. Every team benefits from at least two Warriors anchoring the front line.
Knight Dude — the ultimate tank. Taunts enemies, gaining temporary HP proportional to the number of surrounding enemies. With the right Relics, a Knight can absorb more damage than enemies can deal.
Samurai Dude — high single-target damage with cleave potential. Works as both a primary damage dealer and a finisher for tough enemy targets.
Spartan Dude — balanced stats and synergy bonuses make Spartans reliable all-rounders that fit into any composition.
Berserker Dude — glass cannon Bruiser with high damage output and moderate durability.
Fantasy Dudes
Fantasy Dudes bring magic to the battlefield. Wizard Dudes deliver devastating area damage while Cleric Dudes keep your squad alive through the mid-game gauntlet.
Wizard Dude — heavy magic damage dealer. Spell power scales with Relic investment; a fully synergized Wizard can one-shot entire enemy waves.
Cleric Dude — the best healer in the game. Divine Pulse targets the most injured Dude and heals all nearby allies for a portion of the Cleric’s DPS. With the Clerical Error Relic, this pulse also damages enemies.
Warlock Dude — stores critical hit damage and releases it as an AoE explosion. High-risk, high-reward specialist.
Sorcerer Dude, Mage Dude, Enchantress Dude — additional spellcasters with variant mechanics, all contributing to Fantasy synergy stacks.
Sci-Fi Dudes
Sci-Fi Dudes excel in technical advantages: crit manipulation, burst healing, and alien technology that disrupts enemy strategies.
Hacker Dude — stacks Crit Chance with every successful attack. In the right build, a Hacker can achieve near-100% crit rate, firing off stored damage explosions constantly.
Medic Dude — heals the 3 most injured Dudes every 50 damage dealt. Essential for keeping glass cannon damage dealers alive through extended fights.
Alien Dude — cross-synergy specialist with unusual ability interactions that make it valuable in non-standard team compositions.
Cyborg Dude, Engineer Dude, Drone Dude — utility and support variants filling the remaining Sci-Fi synergy slots.
Action Dudes
Action Dudes are the fastest and most aggressive family. They excel at burst damage, positioning tricks, and finishing enemies before they can respond.
Ninja Dude — enters Stealth after each kill, making targeted enemy attacks miss entirely. With the right Relics, a Ninja can chain kills indefinitely without taking damage.
Cowboy Dude — the protector of Action teams. Lasso ability pulls endangered allies out of danger, buying time for fragile damage dealers.
Pirate Dude — aggressive life steal and burst damage combination. High risk, high reward playstyle.
Assassin Dude, Mercenary Dude, Bounty Hunter Dude — additional Action variants with burst-focused mechanics.

Team Composition Fundamentals
Building a viable squad requires balancing three roles:
- Tank — at least 1–2 front-line Warriors to absorb enemy focus
- Damage — 2–3 damage dealers from compatible families (Fantasy Wizards, Action Ninjas, Undead Zombies)
- Support — 1–2 utility Dudes (Medics, Clerics, Finance Dudes) to sustain through long runs
A standard beginner squad looks like: 2 Warriors (Knight + Samurai) + 1 Wizard + 1 Cleric + 1 Medic. This gives you frontline durability, magic damage, healing, and emergency support in one composition.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions about How Many Dudes.
Are all 42 Dudes available from the start?
Yes. All Dudes are available from the start of every run. There is no unlock system — every run draws from the full roster, with the randomness coming from which Dudes appear in the recruitment pool each run.
Can I have multiple copies of the same Dude?
Yes. You can recruit multiple copies of the same Dude type. Each copy contributes to the family synergy count independently, and copies of named Dudes (like Zombie Dude) each carry their own scaling mechanics.
What determines which Dudes appear in my recruitment pool?
Each run, the game draws from a randomized pool of available Dudes. You can influence this somewhat through Pre-Posted Flyers in Daily Dude and Ensemble Mode. The core strategy is to read your available Dudes and build around the strongest synergies present in your current pool.
Do Star ratings persist across runs?
Yes. Star ratings earned for each Dude during a run persist and improve that Dude's base stats permanently. Higher Star-rated Dudes are more effective in future runs.
