Hotfix — v1.0.12-rc.2 (August 8, 2026)
Official patch notes for 1.0.12-rc.2:
Fixes — Gameplay
- Spray n’ Pray Trinket (Trooper Dude): Fixed internal cooldown not being respected
- Warlock Dude — Unholy Grail: Fixed damage transfer not applying correctly
No balance overhaul or new Dude Types in this build.
Hotfix — v1.0.5-rc.12 (August 5, 2026)
- Save backup system updated to better compensate for a Windows OS issue that can corrupt save data during power outages or Blue Screen of Death events
- Substantially reduces likelihood of save loss in those scenarios
Announcement — Free Content Update (August 5, 2026)
Butterscotch announced a Chonky & Free Update as a thank-you for the launch response. Planned contents:
- Quality-of-life improvements from ongoing player feedback — new settings and keybinds
- More ways to visualize your personal Dude journey
- New Dudes (exact count not yet revealed)
Target release: within a couple of months after bug triage, team rest, and content development. Follow Steam news and Discord for timing.
Milestone — 100k Sales in 50 Hours (August 1, 2026)
How Many Dudes? hit 100,000 Steam purchases in 50 hours — the studio’s fastest-selling launch. Same weekend stats:
- 90%+ positive Steam review score
- 9,636 peak concurrent players
- Multiple stabilization hotfixes already deployed
Launch discount (35% off) remained active on Steam at announcement — check the live store page for current pricing.
Experiment — Beta Tier Unlock (August 3–5, 2026, cancelled)
Butterscotch tested a Steam beta branch that unlocked Tier 2 at run start without Gold Star prerequisites. After mixed-to-negative feedback, the experiment was cancelled August 5 and will not ship to the main branch at this time.
Metaprogression (Gold/Silver Stars, Ensemble slots, Pocket Dice, starting cash) was unchanged — only the Tier selection gate was tested. Stars earned on higher Tiers still backfill lower Tiers.
Hotfix — v1.0.5-rc.9 (August 2, 2026)
- Medical License Trinket: Reduced CPU load without affecting healing throughput
- Best Runs page: Fixed locked runs still getting pushed off the leaderboard
Hotfix — v1.0.5-rc.8 (August 1, 2026)
Official release notes for 1.0.5-rc.8 highlight:
Improvements
- UI: Tier indicator added on victory and loss screens so you always know whether you are on Challenge Tier 1, 2, or 3
Fixes
- Localization: Missing localization for the Rumpus login failure message
No balance overhaul or new Dude Family in this build — pure stabilization/QoL. Update via Steam or your mobile storefront.
Hotfix — v1.0.5-rc.7 (July 31, 2026)
- Fixed: Rumpus sign-in prompt appearing multiple times on the main menu
- Context: First noted post-launch Steam stabilization build before rc.8
